What to wear to a photoshoot

Many of you are maybe wondering what to wear during a photoshoot. I'm going to give you some advice. The most important advice I can give you is to be yourself and choose something that you like and feel comfortable of wearing.

Solid Colors

Solid colors are timeless and tend to photograph well. They draw attention to your face, making you the focal point of the image. Neutral tones like white, black, gray, and earthy tones work particularly well, but don't shy away from bold colors if they complement your skin tone.

Color theme

If you are going to a group or family photoshoot, it can be a good idea to select a palette of 3–4 colors. If one of the group would be wearing for example red and everyone else dark brown, then all the attention would be on that person wearing the red clothes. Avoid dressing the family all in plain black or white from head to toe.

Consider the Location and season

When having a portrait session outdoor, it can be a good idea to think about the season to choose your color palette. Consider what kind of photoshoot you want, casual or wearing more fancy clothes. It can also be a good idea to think about what colors make your photos pop, for example red or white dress on a black beach. But most importantly is to look at the weather forecast and think about If you are up to go out in -12°C cold wearing a dress. It will be worth it but remember to bring your warm clothes! If it is an indoor photoshoot, wear what you like and maybe consider what color of background you want.
